This is not a group for serious historical wargames. It also isn't for hobby-style miniatures games. It is squarely in the middle: all of the fun of making your own force and then rolling tons of dice to blow up someone else's without any of the expense (or historical bickering).
Games like Starmada, Wizard Kings, Epic 40K, and Warmaster are incredible games either buried in obscurity or buried under hundreds of dollars of overhead. Either in one shot games or epic campaigns, no other genre compares to the emotion of choosing your own force and setting it loose.
How can this be? Foamboard, labels, and cardstock. I'll even make all armies if you don't have Photoshop.

Being able to play miniatures games with foamcore pieces is totally the way to go. All the depth of a wargame but without the stupid overhead whenever you want to make a change to your army.
